CUAC Ports not Registering after CUCM Upgrade 11.5.1

CUAC Ports not Registering after CUCM Upgrade 11.5.1

uccollabing.comWe had to start our upgrade on the weekend. Cisco Unified Communications Manager (CUCM) and CUC (Cisco Unity Connection) upgrade from 11.0 to 11.5 version. Cisco Unified Attendant Console Advanced 11.0.1 was also present in the environment but it was not a part of the upgrade or i would say it was not supposed to be upgraded.

We started with Cisco Unified Communications Manager Publisher followed by Subscribers. Same goes for Cisco Unity Connection and  Cisco Emergency Responder.
Once the upgrade was successful, we verified the Database Replication and health status of the products and everything looked good.

Post upgrade, we were trying to verify the CTI Route Points and CTI Ports registration status and found that CUCM and CUC CTI ports, CUCM and CER CTI ports were intact and registered.
Next we have upgraded the TAPI from 11.0 to 11.5 in the ARC machine and restarted the ARC machine. Post restart, we found that CUCM and CUAC CTI ports are not registered. We tried stopping the ARC related services on ARC machine and restart them but no luck.

After 5 minutes of googling, we realized that we are hitting a bug “CSCva12833” which does not allow CTI Ports to register. To resolve the issue we followed the below steps:

Login to CUAC Server

  • Stop all CUAC related services like Cisco Unified Attendant Server, BLF Plug-in, CUPS Presence, Server Service, LDAP Plug-in in ARC Machine.
  • Replace the file ASTAPI2x.dll into the folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Cisco\CTI Server\Repository\CiscoCUCM_CTI\

You will get the file ASTAPI2x.dll from the CUAC Installation Setup folder which you had download from Cisco website when CUAC was installed for the first time (CUACA_SV_11.0.1.10 ).
Go to CUACA_SV_11.0.1.10 folder > Go to Attendant Server folder > Go to  BEFORE INSTALLING – IF USING CUCM 11.5(1) REVIEW ENCLOSED README  folder > Go to Dotnet_Win64  folder(if your ARC Machine is 64 BIT)  OR  Go to Dotnet_Win32 folder (if your ARC Machine is 32 BIT)
    ———- OR ———-
If you are not sure where the installation file is, do not worry – You can download the CUAC installation file from
    https://www.cisco.com/go/ac

Login > Go to Downloads > Select Cisco Unified Attendant Console Advanced > Download 11.0.1 Version
Once the file is downloaded > Unzip the file >
Go to CUACA_SV_11.0.1.10 folder > Go to Attendant Server folder > Go to  BEFORE INSTALLING – IF USING CUCM 11.5(1) REVIEW ENCLOSED README  folder > Go to Dotnet_Win64  folder(if your ARC Machine is 64 BIT)  OR  Go to Dotnet_Win32 folder (if your ARC Machine is 32 BIT)
Your file (ASTAPI2x.dll) will be here.

  • Deleted Driver Instance folder from C:\Program Files (x86)\Cisco\CTI Server\
  • Restarted the CUAC Machine
  • Post ARC Machine restart CTI Route Points and CTI Ports got registered with CUAC.

Hope this helps!
